Write down what you need to remember

It can be difficult to recall details during a consultation. Note previous facial procedures, any available product information, allergies and reactions. Medicines and supplements also belong in your medical history. Ask why information is needed and do not stop medication on the basis of an online checklist. If you cannot remember a product or date, say so rather than guessing; discuss whether an earlier treatment record can be obtained before any decision.

Put your questions in order

Choose three priorities: your desired change, the risk that concerns you most and how follow-up contact works. Ask what the proposed scope and total fee include. A consultation does not have to end with a procedure on the same day. Take time to clarify unfamiliar points and, if useful, review the proposal at home. Keep written information with your own notes so that later questions can be discussed against the same record.

Questions to bring to your consultation

  • Are my previous treatment and medical details ready?
  • Which three questions matter most to my decision?
  • Do I understand the fee, review and contact arrangements?
